Your site for sustainable swapping & shopping in the Six

ABOUT ME

In early 2017, inspired by the book The Story of Stuff and the documentaries Before the Flood and The True Cost, I took the first step in my sustainable journey by starting an environmental club at the school where I taught full-time. The next big step in going green came a number of months later with the launch of my @conscious.cass Instagram blog.

Fast-forward a number of years and I now eat mostly plant-based, live a low-waste lifestyle, choose to shop secondhand as often as I can, and drive an electric vehicle. And although my social media reach continues to grow slowly, I've noticed that a lot of my followers already live a sustainable lifestyle... This website is my way of attempting to reach a wider audience and show how simple it can be to swap and shop sustainably in the Six!

Although I loved being the Coordinator of Sustainability & Stewardship (and math teacher) at the school I previously worked for, I decided to leave the formal education system to pursue my passion for sharing my sustainable journey and educating others along the way... Conscious Confession

I am a privileged, white, cisgender woman with the means to live a sustainable lifestyle...

Throughout my Conscious Cass journey, but especially from the research done to create this website, I've learned the hard truth that sustainability can be beyond inaccessible for so many reasons (cost, convenience, etc.) It honestly makes me feel so helpless, but I didn't let that feeling stop me from creating what I hope can be a valuable resource for everyone regardless of your circumstances or where you are along your path to sustainable living, which, by the way, is an imperfect and never-ending one for all of us! Please feel free to reach out to me at consciouscassandra@gmail.com if you're faced with challenges and hopefully I can help you find the best way forward!

Subscribe to my newsletter to get sustainable tips and stay updated on events & activities to help you consume more consciously!
